About Lainey

Lainey Bishop believes a good ending isn’t a surprise. It’s a promise kept.

She writes sweet, small-town romance set in coastal places you’d move to if someone gave you a reason — towns where the bakery opens too early, the hardware store closes whenever it feels like it, and everyone remembers the thing you’d rather they’d forgotten.

Her stories are quiet on the surface and busy underneath. Second chances. Long silences. People who are extremely good at taking care of everyone except themselves. The romance is closed door; the feelings are not.

She writes early, near the water when she can, and keeps a running list of towns she’d like to be from.

Her first novel, The Way Back to Kettle Cove, opens a five-book series set in one small harbour town in Maine. More are on the way.

What to expect from a Lainey Bishop book

Every one is a small vacation. Not an escape from your life — a reminder of what your life can feel like when you slow down, pay attention, and let someone in.

Her characters aren’t broken. They’re just very good at protecting themselves, until they meet someone who makes protection feel like a waste of perfectly good energy.

The endings are always happy. That isn’t a spoiler. That’s the promise.
